B2B Lead Generation Playbook for SEO Agencies
A local business list is only useful if it turns into booked calls. Here's a repeatable process for taking a raw list and converting it into a working pipeline.
1. Segment before you contact anyone
Split your list into at least two groups with different pitches: "no website" (pitch: get found online at all) and "has website, low rating or few reviews" (pitch: reputation and visibility, not existence). Sending the same message to both wastes the specificity that makes local outreach work.
2. Audit before you pitch
For the "has website" segment, spend two minutes per lead checking page speed, mobile layout, and whether they show up on the first page for their own city + service. A pitch backed by one specific, visible problem beats a generic "we can help you rank higher."
3. Multi-channel, not just email
Local businesses check email inconsistently but usually answer their phone or WhatsApp. Plan for at least two channels per lead — an email for the detailed pitch, a short WhatsApp/call follow-up for the ones who don't respond in a few days.
4. Track by segment, not just by lead
Measure reply and close rate per segment (no-website vs. low-rating vs. no-social), not just overall. This tells you which pitch is actually working and where to spend more prospecting time next month.
5. Re-run the search periodically
New businesses open, and existing ones change their website/rating status. Re-running the same niche+city search monthly surfaces fresh, previously-uncontacted prospects without starting from scratch.
